So I am doing a little bit more facecam as I am winding down for the year and drawing more often, let me know what you thought! I personally plan to include more visuals of what I am saying with this type of video in the future. Also…This was originally 10 minutes longer with personal anecdotes and a more in-depth look at my page but I had to cut those out. If you want to see what I had to say, become a Patron and this months rewards will be released in one week!
Thank you for the video. I needed to hear this.
Instagram do be humbling us 😭💪❤️
for a guy who been doing this for 4 to 6 years. and trying to take a break for a time like a week. I can say I disagree. with mostly everything. as an illustrator and animation it's always about the likes and how your work is doing. and taking a break just punishes you.
Instagram is not good when you like experimenting and trying new stuff.
"if you're like me and everyone else every time you make a post you're gonna sit down maybe get a drink but slowly watch those likes creep up in anticipation hoping that you get to the point that makes you feel happy inside" – I can relate to that! I work in this field for more than 20 years and i still got this feeling of approval. 👀
My commission works posted by clients get more like than I used to post :')
This is great, the honesty is refreshing. Thanks for posing! P.S. What chair is that you have, it looks super comfy.
i’m a new artist so i get around 20 likes, but what makes me really happy is when someone will see one of my posts, and then take time out of their day to look at my profile and like all the other posts
I can tell you exactly what other is based on how fb/youtube works. So I found with a creator page on fb when I poked around other and had questions that other pertains to traffic driven from off-site either found in search engines like google, yahoo, etc… and clicking onto the site, diversion styled traffic like in the youtube creator where it says you get clicks from this site or that site because of hyperlinks, shared content, etc.. etc… So like with one click I found someone visited from deviantart because I had a link over there. That would pertain to the other category. Other will be outside the traffic of one kind or another. Everything else has to do with the platform itself. On some sites they don't list other as other, some site will just list it as off site traffic, seo, etc… Idk why I just realized this and remembered this so late in the game… I know this is old content but if it helps someone, awesome!
So i'm an artist on instagram and I cannot, for the life of me, understand why anyone would want to make art specifically with instagram in mind. Instagram doesn't make you any money, does it? Or is it do draw in potential customers? Because this video implies artists make art for the sake of scoring likes, NOT to make money per se.
and that art that builds an audience video is on my recommended videos XD!
wow your work its really gooood!
I bet those 198 dislikes have no talent
Wish words. I've realised likes mean nothing at the end of the day. It's nice to see a lot of them on something you've drawn but it's not the most important thing. Now I would like to see my followers grow, but to do that I need to start being more consistent with my uploading of new work which means I need to get faster (and hopefully better).
I just want the bots to go away man 😭
First time I got over 40 likes was a dtiys, then I got 50 on a prode flag design(that I don’t really love when I look back), the most I’ve ever gotten is on fanart. Not surprising, just kinda sad that it’s the only way my art account would be able to grow is if I stick to one way of drawing and posting. I see it in a lot of artists I follow, sticking to the same characters/aesthetic. Obviously if that works for the person and they’re happy, that’s great. But experimenting sometimes feels like it’s punished on Instagram.
I want to sell my UI designs and illustration so how can I do that pls help me out
I think instagram is the best for branding, but need to learn more about how to gain it. I prefer to focus on the content rather than beg a like button
Art therapy 101, thank you so much for this! ❤️❤️
social media for artist 9/10 the website dont give a shit about their existence and dont matter one dust of a bit
This is my first time watching your videos and I am caught with the first few seconds bec. of your voice
I'm a artist on instagram if you wanna support check it out @_illusionsart
I came here wanting to learn more about being an artist on Instagram and ended up being relaxed by his tone of voice.
Look at spra_ypaintart on Instagram ✌🏼😁
Art in school and social media really corrupted my liking for the hobby. Now it’s a rare case to see me picking up a pencil
This cid should have a bracket with (only for us,uk amd some other developed countries). Because I know very good artists who doesn't even have an instagram account they have youtube or some of em have a Facebook page and some doesnt hve any. Im not that good at art yet but i do some pieces sometimes most are traditional. Recently hit the 13th piece in digital medium and i only uploded 2 arts in my personal account. I have a very talented artist frnd who draws too good to be true but only showed me his work through dm and saw his drawings in his personal sketch book he never uploaded a single thing in insta.
Love your videos! Also, you're cute 😛
Thank you
wow !!
Going through this building the audience phase and doing what is more trending. I did take a detour and to be honest I was not happy . I’m now doing what I feel connected to at the moment and it’s making me more happy coz that was one reason I started the page .
I've a rather small page and I feel discouraged everytime I post a new drawing but watching your vids is like therapy, and getting up on my feet again. Thank you
Social Media can actually be a way to improve your art, believe it or not. Thats practically the only reason I post my art on other platforms. It gives publicity to your artworks letting other people criticize and comment on your artwork. Getting feedback from others can help fix your artwork.
You don't necessarily need to be instagram famous for this. As long as there is talent and persistency, there will always be an audience.
Using maximal hastag does not works anymore for IG now days.
Thank you! I needed to hear that!
This guys voice is smoother then silk 😟
Awesome and so true, I am just getting started and wooow cannot wait to really focus on my message and not be influenced by likes or other stuff. Thank you!
Oh woah, this helped a lot thank you!
I really like your view on this, especially when we tend to compare ourselves to other artists/bloggers/vloggers. It takes away from just being your own self and why you love what you do. Don't compete to play the game, people are going to enjoy something genuine more than anything else, and you'll feel better for being authentic.
I used to not care about the number of likes, but when u got 13 likes for a 7(or +) hours drawing it hurts a little you know
thanks for your tip videos, also, i love your calm relaxing voice. 🙂
I've always drawn what I've wanted to, but I think my issue is that my work varies so much from post to post that I don't have a specific audience to cater to. But part of me is ok with that because I'm not drawing for them, I'm drawing for me and sharing that with them. Remembering that distinction helps me not focus on likes so much and instead keep chugging along doing what I want to do and getting better in the process
Should we set to Business Account?
